Thank You for a Remarkable Financial Year

As we approach the end of the financial year, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and trust in Fernland.

The past 12 months have brought their share of challenges—economic headwinds, political uncertainty, and fluctuating consumer confidence have all tested our industry. But perhaps the most persistent issue for ornamental horticulture and turf care has been the weather: too much rain in some regions, not enough in others. These extremes have impacted everything from planting schedules to turf quality and logistics.

Yet, what stands out most is the resilience and optimism across our industry. Every day, I speak with customers who view these hurdles not as roadblocks, but as opportunities—to reassess operations, invest in people and products, explore innovation, and seek out advice and support. It’s this mindset that continues to drive growth across nurseries, councils, landscapers, and sporting facilities alike. Your determination is inspiring.

At Fernland, we’ve stayed committed to being more than just a supplier. Our goal is to be a true partner—to help you find the right solutions, offer honest advice, deliver on our promises, and be there when it matters most. We’re proud of the relationships we’ve built and remain dedicated to helping you succeed.

One pleasing development has been the introduction of a new “Statement of Principles” for nursery growers supplying Bunnings. Jointly developed by the GIA, Growers and Bunnings, this initiative marks a positive step forward, with better trading terms, stronger stock commitments, and improved collaboration. It’s a great example of what progress can look like when our industry works together—and it’s been well received.

Looking ahead, there’s reason for optimism. Forecasts suggest that the horticulture industry in Australia is set for strong growth in the immediate future, with increased water availability and stable production levels across key crops. In turf care, despite rising costs and labour shortages, a number our customers are showing strong intent to invest in their businesses, with a number of them planning capital improvements in the next 12 months. Sustainability, innovation, and workforce development will be key themes shaping the year ahead.

At Fernland, we’re preparing for this future by deepening our partnerships, expanding our product range, and investing in our people and systems to serve you better. Whether you’re navigating change or chasing new opportunities, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Thank you once again for being part of the Fernland community. We’re excited for what’s ahead and look forward to continuing the journey with you.

Warm Regards,

Nick Hutchinson
General Manager
