This permit is issued to the Permit Holder in response to an application granted by the APVMA under section 112 of the Agvet Codes of the jurisdictions set out below. This permit allows a person, as stipulated below, to use the product in the manner specified in this permit in the designated jurisdictions. This permit also allows the Permit Holder and any person stipulated below to claim that the product can be used in the manner specified in this permit.

Products to be used: TALSTAR 80 SC INSECTICIDE/MITICIDE (APVMA No. 45703) PLUS OTHER REGISTERED PRODUCTS Containing: 80 g/L BIFENTHRIN as the only active constituent.

COUNTRY BIFENTHRIN 100 SC INSECTICIDE (APVMA No. 67299) PLUS OTHER REGISTERED PRODUCTS Containing: 100 g/L BIFENTHRIN as the only active constituent.

VENOM 240 INSECTICIDE (APVMA No. 81526) PLUS OTHER REGISTERED PRODUCTS Containing: 240 g/L BIFENTHRIN as the only active constituent.

Critical Use Comments: All situations:

• Prepare fresh solution/batch as required. DO NOT store diluted batches overnight.

Potted Plants – any situation:

• Apply as a pot/container drench and water thoroughly OR immerse pot, container and/or root ball completely in prepared dip at a minimum re-treatment interval of 28 days.
• Fruit trees bearing fruit must have the fruit removed prior to treatment.
• Dip pots, containers and/or root balls 2 days prior to movement from property. One dip treatment will provide 28 days protection.
• Dispose of used dip solution over an area of dedicated and bunded flat land, away from watercourses and any drainage areas etc that could contaminate watercourses, and restrict access to humans and livestock.

Potted Plants – where stored off-ground, as an alternative to drench/dip methods:

• Only potted plants stored at least 30 centimetres off the ground on mesh grid are eligible for this treatment.
• Apply solution by knapsack or other handheld applicator with a spray or shower attachment, or similar, at a minimum re-treatment interval of 28 days.
• Fruit trees bearing fruit must have the fruit removed prior to treatment.
• Apply to the surface layer of potting media to form a treated soil barrier that has a depth of at least 2 centimetres. Potting media must be thoroughly wetted to at least this depth.
• One spray will provide 28 days protection. Re-application must be at 28 days to maintain continuous protection.
• Structural supports for any off ground storage must be sprayed.

Commercial Turf Farms:

• Apply a minimum of spray volume of 200 L/ha using a calibrated ground-based boomspray. Apply as per best practice, using appropriate nozzle size and boom/nozzle height from turf surface to achieve optimum results.
• Turf MUST be treated at least 48 hours prior to lifting and movement.
• The treated area must be irrigated, following standard practice, as soon as practicable, after treatment application.
• DO NOT allow contaminated run-off from treated areas to enter water bodies.
• To mitigate risk of run-off, DO NOT apply to soils that are excessively wet, or immediately prior to, or after, heavy rain.
• Turf must be moved off site within six weeks (i.e. 42 days) of treatment, otherwise re-treatment is required.
• DO NOT graze treated turf/lawn or feed turf/lawn clippings from any treated area to poultry or livestock.
• Incidences of ineffective control must be reported to the permit holder.

Commercial High Risk Items:

• Apply using a combination of knapsack, trenching and/or injection device at a re-treatment interval of 3 months. Where applied to create a fire ant resistance surface/horizontal barrier (i.e. not as a 300 mm perimeter spray) the retreatment interval may be extended until 12 months where the product is stored on the surface continuously, the horizontal barrier is not exposed to the elements, and reapplication is not possible.
• Treatment volumes of up to 5 L per linear metre of spray solution for a 300 mm barrier is required as the spray solution will penetrate deeper into the soil. To aid in soil penetration, loosen soil to a minimum depth of 80 mm. To compensate for impervious soils such as heavy clay where application of 5 L/m for 300 mm barrier or 5 L/m2 for a horizontal barrier would

cause run-off, it may be necessary to apply a volume of emulsion less than 5 L/m or 5/Lm2.. When reducing the total volume of emulsion used, increase the concentration.

• If stock feed commodities such as hay and straw are to be protected by a horizontal/perimeter barrier, then an impermeable barrier MUST be applied over the treated surface to protect the commodity from residue contamination (e.g. plastic sheeting applied over the treated soil before hay or straw is stored).
• Pesticide barriers that have been physically disturbed by landscaping, excavation etc. will need to have the pesticide re-applied to restore continuity of the barrier.
• Allow 24 hours after chemical application before placing product to be stored on a barrier treated area.

Safety Directions: Poisonous if swallowed. May irritate eyes and skin. Repeated exposure may cause allergic disorders. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. When opening the container and preparing spray, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist and elbow-length chemical resistant gloves. When using the prepared spray wear protective waterproof clothing, elbow-length chemical resistant gloves and water resistant footwear. Wash hands after use. After each day’s use, wash gloves and contaminated clothing.

Additional Conditions: This permit allows for the use of a product in a manner specified on the permit. Persons who wish to prepare for use and/or use products for the purposes specified in this permit must read, or have read to them, the details and conditions of this permit. Unless otherwise stated, the use of the product must be in accordance with the product label.

The holder of the permit must notify the APVMA of new information, including relevant information in accordance with section 161 of the Schedule to the Agricultural and Veterinary Chemicals Code Act 1994, in accordance with the obligation imposed by that section.
