Effective Systemic Disease Control

Product Overview

  • BUMPER® 625 is a broad spectrum fungicide containing 625 g/L of the active ingredient Propiconazole. It is specifically registered for the control of Spring Dead Spot and Dollar Spot in a range of turf management situations.
  • BUMPER® 625 is also registered for the control of stem rust and Blind Seed Disease in Perennial Ryegrass situations as well as Rust in Boronia grown in ornamental situations.

Mode of Action

GROUP 3 FUNGICIDE

Propiconazole, the active ingredient in BUMPER® 625 is a systemic fungicide that once absorbed by roots and leaves moves upwards within the plant. BUMPER® 625 fungicide possesses curative, protective and eradicant activity when controlling turfgrass fungi.

BUMPER® 625 is a Group 3 fungicide. It works in controlling turf pathogens by disrupting the fungi’s membrane function. It is classified as a DMI inhibitor as it stops the demethylation step in the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a vital component of cell walls in many fungi.

How to Get the Best Results from Bumper® 625

Turf Disease Control For foliar based turf diseases, spray when conditions are warm and humid. Re-apply treatments at 14-28 day intervals if conditions continue to favour disease development. Use rates towards the lower end of the range as a preventative program and against light infection. Use rates towards the higher end of the range and shorter intervals as a preventative or curative treatment when conditions are highly favourable for disease activity.

For Spring Dead Spot, apply BUMPER® 625 as a soil drench and water in immediately, ensuring thorough movement into the rootzone. Spray in January to March, after renovation and recovery of active growth. Make a second application one month later where infection is severe. It is best not to renovate treated greens until active growth has recommenced in Spring. DO NOT spray in the Spring/Summer period prior to renovation. BUMPER® 625 may cause bleaching of the grass after application in late Summer/Autumn and also produce a greening effect in the following Spring. Couch may be slow to recommence active growth in the Spring, particularly in cooler regions. These effects should be allowed to grow out before treating again.


Ornamental Disease Control Apply 2 to 5 applications at 10 to 14 day intervals during the main disease period. Use the lower rate when application is made protectively before disease occurs. Use the higher rate when the disease is first observed and when the minimum number of applications are applied.

Use Rates

Turf Application – 1.2 – 2.4 L/Ha (12-24 mL/100 m²). For Dollar Spot apply in 10-20 L of water per 100 m². For Spring Dead Spot apply in 150 L of water per 100 m². For Stem Rust in Perennial Ryegrass, apply at 200 mL/Ha.

Ornamentals Application – Specific to Boronia’s: 200 – 400 mL/Ha.

Application Recommendations

Use a sprayer designed to apply high volumes of water up to the point of run-off and matched to the host plant being sprayed. Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the plant’s canopy. Apply sufficient water to cover the plant’s leaf to the point of run-off. Avoid excessive run-off. The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice. The required dilute spray volume will change and the sprayer set up and operation may also need to be changed, as the ornamental crops grow and mature.

Compatibility

BUMPER® 625 is compatible with many commonly used agricultural chemicals including some formulations of diazinon, dimethoate, copper oxychloride, mancozeb, zineb and chlorothalonil. Mixtures with more than one of the above are not recommended.
