Quali-Pro® Nutmeg®
Product Overview
Quali-Pro® Nutmeg® is a versatile herbicide that controls Nutgrass, Mullumbimby Couch and a range of broadleaf weeds in established cool and warm season turfgrass. Quali-Pro® Nutmeg® is an ideal first choice for control of sedges in desirable grasses such as buffalo and kikuyu, where other chemistry classes (e.g. many Group 2 and Group 4 chemicals) may cause phytotoxicity.
Mode of Action
GROUP 6 HERBICIDE
Quali-Pro® Nutmeg® contains 480g/L Bentazone, in a soluble liquid concentrate formulation. Bentazone is a Benzothiadiazole herbicide that works by inhibiting photosynthesis in the chloroplast of plants. After application, chlorosis begins 3 to 5 days following application followed by necrosis and desiccation of the plant. Bentazone is a contact herbicide and therefore thorough coverage of the foliage of weeds is essential.

How to Get the Best Results from Quali-pro® Nutmeg®
- For Nutgrass and Mullumbimby Couch apply to actively growing weeds with adequate soil moisture. Better results will be gained spraying during warmer months just prior to flowering.
- For broadleaf weeds target small, actively growing weeds. Sequential applications or tank mixing with other herbicides may help with large or hard to kill weeds.
- The key to effective weed control is coverage. Ensure thorough coverage of the weed to wet foliage but avoiding excess runoff. Use the higher rate for dense weed populations.
- The addition of a non-ionic surfactant at label rates may improve weed control, particularly on Nut Grass and Mullumbimby Couch.
- Avoid spraying when rainfall or irrigation is expected within 8 hours of application.
- For optimal control, avoid mowing for 3 days prior to and after application.
- Apply a follow-up spray 2-4 weeks after application if sufficient new growth warrants re-treatment, but do not exceed two applications within 4 weeks.
- DO NOT apply to turf under stress from drought, waterlogging, extreme hot or cold temperatures, or injury from other chemicals or fertilisers.
- DO NOT apply to newly seeded or sprigged turf. Wait until turf is established or injury may result.
