Description

Horticultural Vermiculite

Horticultural Vermiculite is an inorganic, inert, and sterile growing medium that provides excellent aeration, water-holding capacity, and plant insulation. Ultra-lightweight and free from disease, weeds, and insects, our vermiculite promotes healthy plant growth and is available in various grades to suit your needs.

Key Benefits of Vermiculite:

  • Non-abrasive and slightly alkaline (can be neutralized with peat)
  • High cation exchange (or buffering exchange) for optimal nutrient absorption
  • Insulating properties protect plants from temperature fluctuations

Available Granule Sizes:

  • Grade 1, Extra Fine = 0mm – 1mm
  • Grade 2, Fine = 2mm – 4mm
  • Grade 3, Medium = 3mm – 6mm
  • Grade 4, Coarse = 5mm – 8mm

Perfect for Rapid Seed Raising:
AUSPERL vermiculite offers an ideal environment for seed germination, supporting both large and small seeds in pure vermiculite or a mix with peat or perlite. It can also be used as a soil improver, enhancing seed emergence and minimizing the risk of capping.

Sowing Composts and Seedling Wedge Mix:
When added to sowing composts, AUSPERL vermiculite improves seed growth and germination. It can be mixed with up to 20% fine peat or blocking compost for use in wedge-shaped plug module systems.

Blocking and Root Cuttings:
AUSPERL vermiculite promotes better aeration, drainage, and insulation in growing blocks, and it can be used in a 50/50 mix with peat or perlite for soft cuttings.

Micro Propagation and Twin Scaling Bulbs:
AUSPERL vermiculite is suitable for weaning tissue-cultured plants and can be used as a rooting medium for propagules. Its moisture-retaining and insulating properties make it ideal for twin-scaling bulb propagation.

Potting Mixes:
AUSPERL vermiculite can be added to potting composts to create a light, open compost that holds more water and facilitates re-wetting. It can be used in various mixes for greenhouse pot plants, hanging baskets, bedding plants, and house plants.

Discover the difference AUSPERL Horticultural Vermiculite can make in gardening and plant propagation projects. Experience improved seed germination, healthier plant growth, and a better-growing experience with our versatile and high-quality vermiculite.
