Product details
The TS-24 is a commercial-grade seedling tray engineered to improve plant health in the nursery and enhance survival and establishment in the field. With a larger 292 cc cell volume and complex internal wall structure, it is well suited to Australian natives, ornamentals, and any species where root quality and transplant performance are critical.
Root Quality and Air-Pruning Performance
The TS-24's complex internal wall structure and side-slot openings work together to deliver air-root pruning across the full cell depth. As roots reach the slots, they are naturally air-pruned rather than left to spiral — producing a stronger, more vigorous root system with a higher proportion of young, active roots. The result is a plug that establishes faster after transplant and performs more consistently in the field.
Holes between cells improve airflow around the root zone, reducing the humid conditions that favour fungal disease in high-density propagation environments. At extraction, cell taper and side slots allow the plug to release cleanly without damage to the root ball.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the TS-24 best suited to?
The TS-24 performs well across any species where root quality and field survival are priorities — including Australian natives, ornamentals, revegetation stock, and larger-format seedlings that benefit from a deeper, higher-volume cell.
How does air-root pruning work in the TS-24?
The tray's internal wall structure and side-slot openings expose root tips to air as they grow outward. When a root tip reaches the air gap it desiccates and stops elongating, prompting the plant to produce more lateral branching roots instead. This prevents root spiralling and produces a denser, more vigorous root system compared to standard smooth-walled cells.
How long do TS-24 trays last?
With correct handling, TS-24 trays are designed for a service life of up to 20 years. They are constructed from UV-stabilised virgin HDPE, which resists degradation from sunlight and the chemical exposure typical in nursery environments.
