In addition to acropetal movement, Versys has translaminar movement that can help control insects sheltering on the underside of the leaf, provided the water volume is high enough to ensure thorough coverage.

How and When to Use Versys in Broadacre Crops

Timing
Begin application when threshold levels are reached. Continue to monitor crops and make a subsequent application after 14 days where necessary.
For green peach aphid (GPA), damage occurs as a result of viral infection rather than feeding damage. Turnip Yellows Virus (TuYV) spread by GPA can cause yield losses of up to 50% if infection occurs prior to bolting, so early monitoring is vital with application on relatively low numbers to minimise any chance of viral infection.
For other aphid species in canola, careful monitoring for aphids at budding and early flowering will often reveal aphids amongst the buds and flowering heads prior to clustering. It may be difficult to gain coverage of all individuals once dense clusters form, so apply Versys at this earlier infestation timing to ensure optimal control and avoid feeding damage. In general, aphids should be sprayed when 20% of plants are infested with colonies of aphids.
Methods
Effective control requires thorough crop coverage. Use sufficient water volume and consider increasing water volumes in more advanced or bulky crops.
Apply Versys in COARSE spray droplets and a minimum of 100 L/ha water by ground rig and 50 L/ha by air.
Resistance Management
Versys has a Group 9D mode of action and is the only member so far of the pyropenes subgroup of insecticides. Apply a maximum of 2 Versys sprays before rotating to an insecticide from a different mode-of-action group as part of an IPM strategy.
