Coptrol Aquatic Algaecide
Control Algae Safely and Effectively in All Water Bodies
Uncontrolled algae growth can quickly impact water quality, block irrigation systems, and create safety and aesthetic problems in ponds, dams, and water storage areas.
Coptrol provides an effective, APVMA-approved solution to eliminate algae—including toxic blue-green species—without harming aquatic life, livestock, crops, or turf.

Application Rates
| Water Body Type | Rate | Application Method | Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tanks & Troughs | 2–5 mL Coptrol per 1,000 L of water | Dilute 1 part Coptrol to 10–20 parts water; apply evenly over surface | Usually one application; repeat after 10–14 days if heavy growth persists |
| Dams, Ponds & Water Impoundments (including potable water) | 4.2–8.4 L per 1,000 m² of water surface (1 m depth) or 5–10 L per 1 ML of water | Apply evenly to the water surface under calm, sunny conditions | As required; reapply after 10–14 days for severe infestations |
For dense growths of Nitella or Chara, use 10 L per 1 ML or 5 mL per 1,000 L of water.
Application Guidelines and Safety
-
Apply in bright sunlight and calm conditions for best results.
-
Treat only one-third of large water bodies at a time to prevent oxygen depletion.
-
Allow 10–15 days between sectional treatments to permit oxygen recovery.
-
Do not apply if water temperature is below 16 °C or in soft water (< 50 ppm carbonate hardness).
-
Do not use in dams supplying water to sheep grazing on ragwort.
-
Always wear protective gloves, coveralls, masks, and goggles during application.
Results and Ongoing Maintenance
-
Visible improvement occurs within 3–10 days as algae discolour and decompose.
-
For ongoing algae prevention, apply half the initial rate monthly or as required.
-
Complementary measures such as aeration and Aquatic Blue dye can enhance long-term clarity and reduce recurrence.
Coptrol is the new generation algaecide—safe, effective, and environmentally responsible.
It delivers rapid algae control in all water environments while protecting the health of fish, livestock, crops, and irrigation systems.
