DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Restraints
DO NOT apply if the area to be treated is wet with dew, irrigation or rainfall
DO NOT apply directly to crop plants (excluding pastures)

| Situation | Pest | State | Rate | Critical Comments |
| :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- | :--- |
| Agricultural situations cropping areas for fruit, herbs, nuts, spices vegetables, including market gardens and intensive horticultural and backyard vegetable gardens | Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta) | Qld, NSW only | Broadcast application 1.7 kg/ha Individual mound treatment 15 g/mound | Apply at the first sign of ant activity. Applications may be made at any time of the day, but are more effective when ants are actively foraging, usually when the soil surface temperature is above 20ºC. Up to 4 applications may be applied per year. These are generally applied at 12 to 16 week intervals. Rainfall or irrigation within 2 to 3 hours after application may reduce the effectiveness of the bait, and a repeat application within 7 days may be necessary to achieve the desired level of control. |
| Commercial, domestic, industrial and public service areas | | | | |
| Forests, grazing and non-crop areas | | | | |
| Lawn and turf situations including residential lawns and ornamental garden beds | Tropical Fire Ant (Solenopsis geminata) | NT only | | |

UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT contains bait material with the active ingredient indoxacarb that acts through
ingestion by ants. The activity of this insecticide allows adequate consumption of the bait by ants prior to
onset of mortality. This provides enough time for foraging ants to return to nest sites and contaminate other
colony members including larvae and queens. This action results in complete control of ant colonies.

Application of insecticide sprays may cause ants to behave abnormally and reduce the potential of feeding
on the bait material. Foraging ants must be able to feed on the bait and return to the colony.

Application
Broadcast Treatments
Baits may be laid using either hand held spreaders, spreaders attached to motor vehicles or aerial
application. Ensure application with broadcast equipment capable of evenly applying 1.7 kg ADVION FIRE
ANT BAIT per ha. Calibrate and adjust equipment prior to application to ensure that the proper rate of
product will be applied.
When applying in areas of significant vegetation utilise application methods to maximise bait coverage at
ground level.
Baiting in fruit, herbs, nuts and vegetables may only be undertaken in situations where direct contact will not
occur with the crop. For crops grown at ground level, bait should only be applied to areas/soil that will not
result in direct contact of bait with the crop. In these circumstances application may be undertaken by placing
bait on the soil between crop rows. Application may NOT be broadcast over the top of crops. In orchard/tree
crops where fruit may be harvested from the ground (ie macadamias) the bait should not be broadcast under
trees where it is likely to come into contact with fallen fruit that may be harvested for consumption.

Individual Mound Treatments
DO NOT disturb the mound. DO NOT apply to tops of mound. Apply 4 level tablespoons (15 g) ADVION
FIRE ANT BAIT per mound, uniformly distributing the product about 1 m around the mound.

Insecticide Resistance Warning GROUP 22A INSECTICIDE

For insecticide resistance management ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT is a Group 22A insecticide. Some naturally
occurring insect biotypes resistant to ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT and other Group 22A insecticides may exist
through normal genetic variability in any insect population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate
the insect population if ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT and other Group 22A insecticides are used repeatedly. The
effectiveness of ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT on resistant individuals could be significantly reduced. Since
occurrence of resistant individuals is difficult to detect prior to use, Syngenta Australia Pty Ltd accepts no
liability for any losses that may result from failure of ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT to control resistant insects.

ADVION FIRE ANT BAIT may be subject to specific resistance management strategies. For further
information contact your supplier, Syngenta representative or local agricultural department agronomist.
