If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. • If swallowed do NOT induce vomiting. • If vomiting occurs, lean patient forward or place on left side (head-down position, if possible) to maintain open airway and prevent aspiration. • Observe the patient carefully. • Never give liquid to a person showing signs of being sleepy or with reduced awareness; i.e. becoming unconsciousness • Give water to rinse out mouth, then provide liquid slowly and as much as casualty can comfortably drink. • Seek medical advice. EYE If this product comes in contact with the eyes: • Immediately hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. • Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper and lower lids. • Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes. • Transport to hospital or doctor without delay. • Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by skilled personnel. SKIN If solids or aerosol mists are deposited upon the skin: • Flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available). • Remove any adhering solids with industrial skin cleansing cream. • DO NOT use solvents. • Seek medical attention in the event of irritation. INHALED • If fumes or combustion products are inhaled remove from contaminated area. • Lay patient down. Keep warm and rested. • Prostheses such as false teeth, which may block airway, should be removed, where possible, prior to initiating first aid procedures. • Apply artificial respiration if not breathing, preferably with a demand valve resuscitator, bag valve mask device, or pocket mask as trained. Section 5 - FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Use extinguishing media suitable for surrounding area. Section 11 - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION POTENTIAL HEALTH EFFECTS None known. ACUTE HEALTH EFFECTS SWALLOWED Considered an unlikely route of entry in commercial/industrial environments. The liquid is discomforting and mildly toxic if swallowed. Ingestion may result in nausea, abdominal irritation, pain and vomiting. EYE The liquid is discomforting to the eyes and is capable of causing a mild, temporary redness of the conjunctiva (similar to wind-burn), temporary impairment of vision and/ or other transient eye damage/ulceration The vapour is mildly discomforting to the eyes The material may produce moderate eye irritation leading to inflammation. Repeated or prolonged exposure to irritants may produce conjunctivitis. SKIN The liquid is mildly discomforting to the skin if exposure is prolonged and is capable of causing skin reactions which may lead to dermatitis. The material may cause skin irritation after prolonged or repeated exposure and may produce on contact skin redness, swelling, the production of vesicles, scaling and thickening of the skin. Acrylic polymer emulsions may contain residual traces of odourous acrylic monomers; the amounts remaining in compounded mixtures represents a very low order of exposure, however this may become noticeable with some materials particularly in confined or poorly ventilated spaces. As with any chemical product, contact with unprotected bare skin; inhalation of vapour, mist or dust in workplace atmosphere; or ingestion in any form, should be avoided by observing good occupational work practice.
